Hello, and thank you for joining me on my website. My name is Jamie Straatsma and I am here to share with you how I empowered myself to create the life that I desire. I am a work at home mom and a homeschooler as well. At my website you are going to find a wide array of tips, content, information, and ninja tactics in the online home business industry as well as information on my dance studio and our custom automotive paint shop / apparel shop. I really strive to inspire the belief in people that you can live the life you want and become truly successful in your business AND your personal life. My website is a place where I hope to accomplish that.
A Little More About Me
I live in Alaska and look forward to sharing our great adventures with you all. I believe in working to live not living to work. I like spending time with family and that is when I truly feel like myself and at home. I love to laugh and make others smile.
I am always looking deeper into life trying to learn and create a better way of living for myself. Life is what you make of it and our capabilities are endless! If you really want to make something happen in your life, you can and will if you put your mind to it and never give up. We all have the power to create whatever life it is that we are seeking. Some of us just don’t know it yet.
What is she getting at you say…..
If you really take the time to look inside yourself and see what is holding you back from all that you seek out of life….. your aha moments will come raining down on you and when the clouds break the sunshine is beautiful.
I learned the hard way that you need to surround yourself with positive minded people if you want positive things to happen in your life. I’m looking to reach out to anyone seeking a better way of living. Anyone who knows their inner strength and what they are capable of, but just doesn’t know where to begin. Or maybe they already have begun and are looking to connect with more people and share their message and passion for life.
A little more insight into who I am and where I came from…..
Let me take a brief moment to give you a little history of my life. I was born in St. Louis, MO and am one of 3 daughters in my family, no brothers, and my parents have been together since they were juniors in high school. My father has been a business owner my whole life and my mother, although she was a stay at home mom, did venture out on her own as well in business. I was raised in the south and family has always been very important to us.
Now being in a house without any boys you’d think we’d be a bunch of prissy girly girls. FAR FROM IT!! We all were very athletic and competitive. Not necessarily with each other, but when we did something we put our all into it! Thanks to my parents, I had a very well balanced, happy childhood and always walked around with a smile on my face. I was very open, honest, and sensitive to the energy that others put out. I was also incredibly shy and school was a struggle for me, but not in an academic way. I always had excellent grades and was involved in many sports. It was the social aspect of school that was a constant struggle for me. Boys picking on girls, girls bullying other girls, judgemental teachers with poor communication skills, and kids just being plain nasty. It wasn’t all bad and I did have some great friends and teachers, but my heart would go out to the kids that were constantly bullied as well as myself.
Then, we moved to Alaska…. Wow, what a change that made in my life. I was a 14 year old teenage girl moving from a huge city to Fairbanks, Alaska. Let’s just say I was devistated and didn’t know how to cope with the change. I was uprooted from all of my friends and most importantly family. I cannot tell you what that does to the core of who you are at that age. I was lost in the middle of a huge state in 40 below weather with a record breaking snowfall and immersed in darkness. Where the hell did all the sunlight go? My older sister and I were attending the local public high school as a freshman and a senior. It was like starting school for the first time all over again! Let’s just say that the boys were too intense and the girls weren’t very welcoming, to put it nicely. All of the attention and negatie energy was overwhelming and I began to forget who I was.
That is when depression and anxiety really started to kick in. By the time I graduated from high school I had no real close friends and was very guarded. For years I was angry, scared, depressed, and looking for something or someone to help heal all the pain I had inside. Then, I did something I had never done before. I actually pursued someone that I was interested in and was a true friend to me. We had so many of the same likes and interests but our personalities were complete opposites. For me, it was the perfect match. I married that guy and we have taught each other so much. I began to come out of my shell and start looking deeper into who I was and healing my own wounds. No one can do that for you. I have learned so much about myself and am constantly learning and growing for the better.
What the future has in store for me….
I now am a mother of two and learn so much from my husband and children. I am a stay at home mom that has been looking for a way to be at home with the kids and homeschool, but also generate some money and contribute to living the only way I think we all should be living. ON OUR TERMS!! I do not like working for others and I LOATHED it when my husband had to get up and go work for someone else. He is such a talented individual and I am proud to say that he is no longer working for anyone but himself. We have started a business out of our home and it is an absolute dream! I cringe at the thought of working for an employer for 40-50 years, only to come out of it with a little retirement to live out what lives we have left. I WANT TO LIVE LIFE ON MY TERMS NOW WHILE WE ARE STILL YOUNG!!
I know there are others out there seeking more out of life…..
So did I find a way to do all those things I stated above? Yes I did. It’s an on going process and I am constantly learning and growing everyday. I have some awesome mentors whom I relate to very well and have a powerful community of networkers that I collaborate with. I have learned the power of self and how to utilize the interenet and technology to get the income streams flowing. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or just to say hello.
